In our previous tutorial I rambled on about the best places to get hosting. If you missed that last post, you can find all about cheap php and mysql hosting here. Finding a domain name goes right along with that, and you’ll probably get it set up at the same time or shortly after your hosting is set up. This article isn’t going to be about how to choose a domain name, though I may write one of those later, it’s about how to get the domain name and set it up quickly.

is the registrar that kept getting attention for their superbowl commercials where well endowed women would wear GoDaddy T-Shirts distracting all of the men. Entertainment aside these guys have become very popular because they know how to throw deals out there and package services to make things cheap. Quite a few people will use a GoDaddy hosted site and domain to start out a web site, and then sell the site or domain name off once its making money. They’re probably in the second, if not the first, place when it comes to market share.

If you have an idea what you want your domain name to be, you can visit the address above and search on it. Make the name memorable, and hopefully containing a keyword you want people to find you under. For example, I have the words movie reviews in my site on… movie reviews. :) That way every link to me contains 2 of my search engine keywords.

Once again for those who like the “Big Brands”, I’m including Yahoo. Their deals are pretty good and they have a name they need to stand by. If commercials with well endowed women doesn’t convince you to go with GoDaddy, this is an ok fall back plan.

Next in the series we decide what business do we want to run?
